Amoros's Bakery opens in New Jersey by Vincenzo Amoroso and his two sons.

Pat Olivieri starts selling hot dogs as a side job in South Philadelphia with his brother.

1930
Tired of hot dogs and fish cakes, Pat invents the steak sandwich: thinly sliced steak, onions, Italian roll.

1940
Steak shops pop up all over Philadelphia, capitalizing on the huge popularity of not only the steak sanwich, but its inventor Pat.

1947
Kraft invents American cheese singles, a processed cheese that contains 80% cheddar cheese and 20% other stuff.

1950
Long-term employee Joe Lorenzo adds American cheese to his steak sandwich, changing the game forever.

1953
Cheez Whiz was introduced in July, and soon later was adopted as a quick, melted alternative to American and Provolone cheeses at shops throughout Philly, beginning with Pat's.

1974
Amoroso's expands delivery across the USA from its expanded location in Philadelphia, ensuring every American can have access to their authentic Italian rolls and bread.

2004
Brothers Joe, Andy and Tony Gaglione open their first sandwich shop in Point Loma, San Diego.

2009
Gaglione Bros. Famous Steaks and Subs is featured in Carolyn Wyman's "The Great Philly Cheesesteak Book", a compendium of the world's best cheesteaks.

2010
The Gaglione Bros. open their third sandwich shop in San Diego with plans of more to come!
